Biographical Info
I am employed as the Communication and Marketing Officer at the Division of Molecular Biology and Human Genetics, Stellenbosch University, which houses the SAMRC Centre for Tuberculosis research and Stellenbosch node of the DSI-NRF Centre of Excellence by Biomedical Tuberculosis Research. In this capacity, I manage the science communication and community engagement activities of the division.
I am also a PhD student at Stellenbosch University, passionate about improving current TB management strategies. My research focuses on the role of B-cells and antibodies during disease, with the aim to identify novel approaches by which to control and eliminate M.tb infection.
Apart from this, I am also invested in public health knowledge, particularly relating to tuberculosis. Additional outreach activities in which I am involved aim to address several social determinants of the TB disease, such as disease knowledge, stigma and behavioural practices.
