Hariharan Seetharaman is a Professor of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine with UWI and Honorary Consultant at EWMSC He is the current Director of Graduate Studies & Research at UWI St. Augustine Campus In addition to his MBBS, MD and a Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine, he also has a PhD in Health Economics. In the past, he had been the Deputy Dean at FMS, Head of the Department of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, Director of Operating Theatres at EWMSC He received the UWI Vice Chancellor’s Award for ‘Excellence in Research’ His academic research spans over a wide range of subjects including critical care, anaesthesia, health economics, medical ethics, pain management, general surgery and medical education. He has published 130 papers in peer-reviewed international journals – including flagship critical care and healthcare management journals – and Chapters in Textbooks of Anaesthesia He has supervised and mentored a large number of undergraduate and postgraduate students in their specialty training and research Currently he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Caribbean Medical Journal Secretary of the Council of the Medical Board of Trinidad & Tobago President of the Bioethics Society of the English-Speaking Caribbean President of the Trinidad & Tobago Anaesthetists Association Chairperson of the NCRHA Ethics Committee His extracurricular activities include voluntary work, philosophy, music and linguistics.
